I may not be good at the pottery wheel, but I'm an expert at eating ice cream.

We had our second pottery class tonight, and I've realized that despite the fact that I'm a very creative, left-brained person, I absolutely suck at throwing on the wheel. To make matters worse, our teacher, Don, is one of those people who is amazingly awesome at what they do (and a super nice guy) yet can't teach worth a lick. His best line yet has been, "It's really not that difficult" which he repeats over and over again as he gives instructions on the various steps of throwing. "I just pinch it like this. It's really not that difficult." or "I push down with my palm...see, right here. It really shouldn't be that difficult." Besides all of this, I'm convinced that as I'm hunched over the wheel, I am also suffocating our baby in the womb. When I straighten up and feel a sharp pain, I panic, but a few minutes later when I have to fart I tell myself that it was just a trapped gas bubble. Needless to say, I think I'm going to try hand building next week. My goal is to make a cute pair of bookends for the baby's room.

Now, as I sit here writing this blog, I'm finishing the last of a pint of Ben and Jerry's Vanilla ice cream. Just scrape the spoon around the edges and lick it clean. It's really not that difficult. :)

Oh yeah, did I mention that today I'm 16 weeks and 3 days pregnant! Wooooooo!

Back in the swing.

Trying to get back into blogging after 3 months! It's been way too long, and a lot has been going on. I don't even know where to begin, so maybe by posting this "I'm-going-to-start-blogging-again" post it will take some of the pressure off and the next time around I'll actually post something worthwhile. Welcome back, me! :)

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Yes, Angus convinced me to go zip-lining on our trip to Mexico. Although I was literally shaking, it was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life especially when one of the guides twisted me around to go backwards and upside-down over a rushing river. Here's a very posed picture of both of us on the first zip line of about fifteen. More Mexico pictures to come!

Family Pictures

We were fortunate enough to have family pictures taken while all of us were together for Christmas. Although the weather was gross, the pictures turned out great!

Tis the season.

Angus got these UGG slippers - yes, I said UGG - for Christmas from my parents, and he's infatuated with them. Every moment he gets, he slips his feet into them and starts raving about the warmth and comfort and how his feet feel like they're buried in little clouds. He insists that everyone should own a pair of slippers like these and can barely wrench his feet out of them when we have to leave the house; then when he does, he complains about how his sneakers are "so not the slippers." Point of all of this being...I love how my husband shows his love. The way he loves is unrestrained and sure. He isn't ever afraid to express himself when he feels passionately about something or someone. Although I'm not sure if the slipper story is the best way to demonstrate this character trait, I sure am grateful for his love.

Technology Schmology

I'm teaching my mom to use Facebook right now.

"This is ridiculous! I can't tell what that letter is. Is that an h or a b?" - a livid response to the security type box.

Makes me wonder if Facebook is really worth it. :) Love you, Mom.

Twilight Hike.

I went for a hike right after school, and I was just finishing up around dark when I ran into a deer family of five grazing. It was very peaceful, so I stood with them for awhile. They weren't fazed in the slightest and continued chomping on their dinner. One of the reasons I call nature my special place. (Sorry about the blurry pic. My phone sucks.)
